I am currently writing this from an airplane on a warm October afternoon, heading to the lovely South Carolina coast for a fun weekend away with friends. There’s something about a plane ride that makes me feel the need to write and dream about my future. Is it because there isn’t a whole lot to do when in the sky with no reception? Is it because I’m in “vacation mode?” Either way, I feel so relaxed and optimistic 36,000 feet up in the air.
I guess I should introduce myself. My name is Grace Marie Hahm. Fun fact; my parents were going to name me Georgia, but decided otherwise. Although, I think that name would have been rather fitting for me. I have always dreamed of doing something creative and unique enough that would reach the public eye in a positive way. I picked up the acoustic guitar 2 years ago; otherwise known as the instrument that collected dust in the corner of my room. I began to play.
Shortly after learning to play the guitar, in addition to performing publicly, I developed a passion for writing. I was told once that I have a “gift with the written word” and am totally still stuck on it… lol. In discovering my passion for music and writing, I have never felt more hopeful and equipped in my strengths. In saying this, that creativity and uniqueness I had hoped to seek at some point in my life, abruptly occurred at just 21 years old.
So, I’m navigating my twenties. Navigating what is meant for me and what absolutely is not. Making decisions that may be huge mistakes. Eating way too many sweets! Walking away from things that no longer fulfill me. Finishing up my senior year; final year of college. Traveling while I have the time. Spending every last second with the kiddos I’ve worked with for 6+ years… taking one day at a time.
I keep mentioning the word “navigating”… Is now a good time to mention that I’m directionally challenged?!
All my love, Grace.
